Tennis – for the health of it! SM?tools are here

May 2008 -- As many of you know, May marks the official kickoff of Tennis - for the health of it! the USPTA's newest initiative. We see this as an umbrella initiative that will benefit the entire tennis industry and truly help grow the game.

Goals of initiative

For public
  • Raise awareness of health, fitness and psychological benefits of playing tennis
  • View tennis as a fun, social activity that is a great way to get healthy and stay fit at any age
  • Encourage people to incorporate tennis as an activity in their fitness regimen
For members
  • Tie USPTA brand to health and fitness benefits of tennis
  • Identify USPTA and its members as the means by which the public can receive these benefits through lessons and other tennis activities
  • See more people play tennis and as a result, grow your business and grow the game
Ambassadors
We have called upon the division leaders during our Executive Committee meeting at the national headquarters to serve as ambassadors for Tennis - for the health of it! initiative and have had a great response. We encourage each and every one of you to get on board, incorporate Tennis - for the health of it! into your programs and promotions and ultimately serve as ambassadors of this initiative.

There is no doubt that the USPTA divisions and members are key to the delivery system. That is something that cannot be stressed enough. The PR for the association, programs and members is only as strong as all of you, the delivery system. The national headquarters is committed to public relations and to doing all that we can to increase knowledge and awareness, enhance the image and build the brand of the USPTA. However, it is only with your efforts at the divisional and member level that this will be truly effective and successful. With all of you as ambassadors, the sky is the limit for Tennis - for the health of it! and what it can do to grow the game.
